'Nature's Abstract' Exhibition

Last week, the exhibition ‘Nature’s Abstract’, a collaboration between myself and Photographer Alison Shirley opened. This show has been in the works for quite some time, but most of the work came very fast over the past 5 weeks since my return from my Costa Rican art adventure. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you would have seen a steady stream of the work I created in response to Alison’s stunning macro photos of nature. For those of you who haven’t, you can view the work that I painted in the ‘Nature’s Abstract Exhibition’ page of my website. I’ve long been inspired by her work and in this video we talk a little about the inspiration behind this exhibition collaboration, about how and why we worked with each other. Just a note, if you are having problems with the sound of this video, please view it in another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

Ali and I had such a wonderful time at our opening party on Sunday 28th May and a great turn out. Thanks so much to all of you who came along and also those who sent messages wishing us all the best, it really did mean the world. Thanks to Deborah Klein of the Arts and Culture Unit of the City of Ballarat and the entire Backspace Gallery team for having our show, including Melinda Muscat who oversaw the hanging. We are very grateful to Pauline O’Shannessy-Dowling for saying a few words on our behalf and to Cr. Jim Rinaldi for officially launching our exhibition. Here a a few lovely pics of our opening courtesy of Michelle Dunn Photography.
